Hattie V. Sams SIMPSON -- Hattie V. Sams, 94, Simpson, died Friday, Jan 2, 1998, at the home of her daughter in Wichita. Mrs. Sams was born Hattie V. McGaughey on June 26, 1903, at Scottsville. She taught school in various country schools for several years and was a member of the Simpson Baptist Church and the Naomi Chapter 28 Order of the Eastern Star of Beloit. Her husband, Wilbur R., died in 1967. Survivors include a son, Dean of Spartanburg, S.C.; three daughters, Shirly Wilson and Jean Purcell, both of Wichita, and Janice Lynch of Longmont, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Simpson Community Church, Paster Ray Gilstrap officiating. Burial will be in Glasco Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church, Simspon Senior Center or the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dean Funeral Home, 301 E. Main, Glasco 67445. |
